How Much Does it cost?

The cost of the Level 3 Award in Intermediate Fire Risk Assessment and a Level 4 Advanced Fire Risk Assessment is as follows:

Package including 2 courses:
The Level 3 Award in Intermediate Fire Risk Assessment and the Level 4 Advanced Fire Risk Assessment
Option 1: Pay at the time of booking – £1000.00 (Including both courses, No VAT to add)
Option 2: Companies only, pay invoice within 30 days – £1200.00 (Included both courses, No VAT to add)
Option 3: Pay by Instalments – £1200.00, Pay a deposit of £200.00, then pay £200.00 per month.
Certificates will not be issued until the course is paid in full.

To book the Level 3 Award in Intermediate Fire Risk Assessment on its own the costs will be as follows:

Proqual Level 3 Award in Intermediate Fire Risk Assessment: Total Qualification Time = 100 hours
ProQual Level 4 Award in Advanced Fire Risk Assessment: Total Qualification Time = 120 hours

The ProQual Level 3 Award in Intermediate Fire Risk Assessment provides a nationally recognised qualification for those working in the fire risk assessment industry, and those who work predominately in medium-risk buildings. This qualification is based on the skills, knowledge and behaviors outlined in BS 8674 Built Environment – Framework for Competence of Individual Fire Risk Assessors – Code of Practice

The aims of this qualification are:

  • To enable those working as fire risk assessors, in premises identified as medium risk; to demonstrate their competency.
  • To provide a mechanism for individuals working as independent fire risk
    assessors, in premises identified as medium risk; to demonstrate they meet the skills and knowledge requirements set out in BS 8674.
  • To enable those working in the fire risk assessment industry to develop and
    demonstrate their skills.
  • The awarding body for this qualification is ProQual AB. This qualification has been
    approved for delivery in England. The regulatory body for this qualification is Ofqual,
    and this qualification has been accredited onto the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) and has been published in Ofqual’s Register of Qualifications.

There are no formal, academic entry requirements for this qualification.

Units:
The qualification consists of 2 units.

  • 1 unit is knowledge-based, which involves the candidate researching, answering questions, or presenting responses in different ways, for example in table format, or professional discussions with your assessor.
  • 1 unit is a competency / practical unit. the candidate must prepare for and conduct at least 2 fire risk assessments within medium-risk buildings.

A medium-risk building may be:
• A residential building, where the occupants number less than 50, including
those who may be unfamiliar with the layout of the building, or who have
some impairments that may impact their ability to escape.
• A retail or commercial building that:
o Is occupied by less than 100 members of staff and the public.
o Has less than 7 stories above ground level.
o Has no occupied basement level.
o Has no abnormal hazards.
o Is less than 600 square metres.
o Is constructed of a traditional, or lightweight timber, frame or has an
External Wall System.

Delivery is flexible to suit the learner with a mixture of assessment methods available, there are no mandatory classroom sessions to attend. Units are completed by carrying out a range of fire risk assessments, writing reports, and providing additional evidence regarding decision-making, application of policies, guidance, and awareness of your knowledge boundaries.

Qualification Specification

The ProQual Level 4 Award in Advanced Fire Risk Assessment provides a nationally recognised qualification for those working in the fire risk assessment industry, and who work predominately in high-risk buildings. This qualification is based on the skills, knowledge and behaviors outlined in BS 8674 Built Environment – Framework for Competence of Individual Fire Risk Assessors – Code of Practice

The aims of this qualification are:

  • To enable those working as fire risk assessors, in premises identified as high risk; to demonstrate their competency.
  • To provide a mechanism for individuals working as independent fire risk assessors, in premises identified as high risk; to demonstrate they meet the skills and knowledge requirements set out in BS 8674.
  • To enable those working in the fire risk assessment industry to develop and demonstrate their skills.
  • The awarding body for this qualification is ProQual AB. This qualification has been approved for delivery in England. Candidates for this qualification should:

  • Hold the ProQual Level 3 Award in Intermediate Fire Risk Assessment OR
  • Have at least three years of occupational experience conducting fire risk assessments within premises identified as medium risk.

Units:
The qualification consists of 2 units.

  • 1 unit is knowledge-based, which involves the candidate researching, answering questions or presenting responses in different ways, for example in table format, or professional discussions with your assessor.
  • 1 unit is a competency / practical unit. the candidate must prepare for and conduct at least 2 fire risk assessments within high-risk buildings.

A high-risk building may be:

A residential building, where the occupants number more than 50, including those who may be unfamiliar with the layout of the building, or who have impairments that may impact their ability to escape.
A retail or commercial building that meets one or more of the following:

  • Is occupied by more than 100 members of staff and the public.
  • Is involved in healthcare activities.
  • Has particular heritage properties.
  • Has more than 7 stories above ground level.
  • Has occupied basement levels with no direct egress to ground level.
  • Has abnormal or transient hazards.
  • Is more than 600 square metres.
  • Has internal travel distances of more than 60 metres.
  • Has single stairways.
  • Has complicated exit arrangements.
  • Has combustible or unknown cladding.
  • Lacks active fire protection or other fire mitigating measures.

Delivery is flexible to suit the learner with a mixture of assessment methods available, there are no mandatory classroom sessions to attend. Units are completed by carrying out a range of fire risk assessments, writing reports, and providing additional evidence regarding decision-making, application of policies, guidance, and awareness of your knowledge boundaries.
